Dr. Edmond Fernandes responded to the humanitarian emergency of Chennai Floods which was declared by Govt Of India as " Severe " He worked with Help Age India in this mission and during his stay on an average treated more than three hundred patients everyday.

Re-think white coats in India
Wrote a personal view article in The BMJ ( British Medical Journal) to re-think white coats in India to magnify patient safety and prevent spread of HAI's( Hospital acquired Infections). The article made National Headlines in reputed dailies like The Times of India, The Hindu, The Indian Express and also was published globally in The Gulf News and other papers in the middle east, Sri Lanka, Europe and the USA.
Dr Edmond appeals to Director General of Police to address the health needs of the police force
In a letter to Shri Om Prakash, Director General of Police, Karnataka, Dr Edmond brought up the various health issues faced by police men while guarding and addressing the needs of society. He also advised the DGP that mask should be worn by the police constables who stand on the roads, proper water and sanitation needs to be provided and arrangements for timely snacks should be undertaken by the respective stations. In response to that, DGP, Karnataka circulated the letter and directed the police stations and officers to take appropriate actions.
Seat belt enforced in Mangaluru City after strong advocacy
Dr Edmond Fernandes, pursued the matter of seat belt enforcement with Mr Ibrahim, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District and with Mr Uday Nayak, ACP, Traffic, Mangaluru city division and during the RTA meeting chaired by the DC, in which Dr Edmond, was asked to make a presentation, he enforced the need for seat belt which was in Public domain and quoted the rules of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, with all evidences to support this, Seat Belt has been enforced for strict implementation in Mangaluru city.
