Official Statement by Dr Edmond Fernandes on being named as the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leader 2026

I am humbled by the recognition and honor from the World Economic Forum to be named as the Young Global Leader 2026. I have come this far only because of my mom and dad and Jesus Christ who has been my lifelong inspiration & a faithful friend. My journey in global health & social transformation remains inspired by the way Christ healed & served others, taught about fraternal love and provided a lived example of what it means to serve and what it means to love one another. This recognition does not belong to me, but rather to my parents, to our Board & team at CHD Group, to the Government of India and our leaders who inspire our mortal journey forward, to our donors, to the Yenepoya University family, to my quiet ambassadors, trusted confidants and shadow commanders. This is your recognition, not mine and I love you. Lastly, this honor also echoes and represents the voices of thousands of global health professionals around the world, who tirelessly transform our lives. We will do more towards nurturing a healthy world. In service, solidarity and love, I remain.
