Recently, I was reading the Christian Impact on India. A religion which is as old as Christianity itself in the Indian sub-continent, although Christians have consistently remained a small minority within the broader population.
The book talks about how knowledge was exchanged, how service was inspired and how people through the ages encountered Christianity and also imbibed its teachings on love and peace.
Further, this book examines the impact of Christianity on Indian society, focusing on the cultural, economic, and intellectual contributions of Christians across various domains—including schooling, healthcare, social services, economic development, the arts, architecture, languages, culture, politics, public administration, and the armed forces.
The authors Dr Lancy Lobo and Dr Denzil Fernandes have also highlighted people who have played a key role in shaping institutions, from the point of India’s freedom struggle to uplifting generations over the ages, leaving a permanent impact on modern India’s global footprints.
In an age where hyper religious sentiments keep making the news, Christianity played a role in providing a beautiful life to India and positioned India as a global powerhouse.
